Memberships for co-producers are typically offered in blocks or allotments of 50. This is done rather seamlessly and is not readily apparent to most participants. However, should the demand for our meats exceed our present ability to provide for the requested increases, the strategy is to transfer new membership requests to a Waiting List until the present allotment of 50 is filled.

In effect, this would provide a cushion of time, as the allotment fills up, to finish bringing on another new small family farm to assist with meeting the new demand.

As an association of small family farmers, we are both promoting our efforts as the active farm family members, and we are busy assisting new family farm members with becoming active providers. New farm family members are mentored in the Association's animal care protocol as well as the best practices guidelines as part of their complete orientation.

We recognize the goodness associated with increases in demand with a slightly different perspective than most businesses. For EAT Food for Life Canada this means an opportunity to bring on more small family farms, not simply to increase the per capita revenue of each active member. Our primary purpose is to assist more and more likeminded small family farms with their transition to sustainability. The net result for our co-producer members is a strengthening of their source of real food.
