We are Tim and Maighread Axe of EAT Food for Life Canada an association of small family farms dedicated to providing healthy, delicious, nutrient-dense meats to the greater community.

The goal is to assist each participating farm family in the quest for sustainability - not to amass wealth for a few, but to share evenly, based upon inputs - and when demand increases, to respond by including additional farm families rather than the risk of transferring an inordinate demand onto the family members of any of the participating farms. The objective here is to protect the family's quality of life as much as possible while helping to ensure sustainability.

EAT Food for Life offers co-producers:

  • the convenience of having a monthly package filled with a variety of safe, delicious, nutrient-dense meats available through The Meats Market - CSA
  • the opportunity to order individual cuts to match specific needs
  • a variety of bulk mixed packages and
  • the contentment that comes from having personal relationships with each farmer.

Perhaps most important, participating in the sustainability of small family farms helps to ensure the sustainability of the co-producers' source of secure food, now and in the years to come.

By co-producers we mean conscientious and fully informed consumers who have entered into a transparent relationship with the association's farmers. The farmers and the co-producers are well informed of each other's needs and share in the risks and rewards of providing real food. Co-producers are interested in securing the right to real food, both now and in the future; the farmers are interested in the continuance of the small family farm - hence the sustainability of real food.

This is truly a small family farm-based initiative, where non-family farm members are invited to participate as co-producers - working directly with family farm members in the support of the association, especially through the purchase of six or twelve month subscriptions and by assisting with getting the word out to others.

If you are a member of a small family farm and are interested in learning more about this most important endeavor, or know of another family farm that may be interested, we encourage you to please contact us at Family@EATFoodforLife.ca. We would like to share more information with you and your family and look forward to the possibility of meeting you soon.
